Staff Spotlight: Kara Frankel
This is Kara Frankel’s twelfth year teaching at Little Folks School, where she teaches in the Orange Room with the youngest class. Read on for more about Kara in our Staff Spotlight Interview:
What do you like best about teaching?
I like it when all of a sudden a child figures something out, a “Ah ha moment”! It’s something so small, such as a puzzle piece fitting, but so amazing to see it in their eyes when it finally clicks.
What do you like best about working at Little Folks?
The families. During my 12 years at Little Folks I still keep in close touch with some of the first families I ever taught. That and the close knit community. It’s so nice being able to walk in the halls year after year and know every student and parent.
What is your favorite meal?
Chicken quesadillas with guacamole and sour cream. However, at this exact moment I am currently half way through my pregnancy and could eat a brownie fudge sundae for every meal!
What is your favorite children’s book?
“On the Night You Were Born” by Nancy Tillman
What is a special tradition for your family?
Thanksgiving. I have a big family, 2 brothers, a sister, and 9 nieces and nephews. My dad’s place overlooks the Macy’s day parade in Manhattan. Each year we all gather, have a big brunch, and watch the parade!
